Am I right in thinking that the servers are no longer available for this game? And only LAN multi-player is available? Wish this had been mentioned by GOG before I got it. CD key inputed by the way.
I believe that is the case. If you have any friends that play it though you can use a program like hamachi to play with them over the internet.
The servers for Sacred 1 were retired some time ago. LAN play is the only method left, but you're better off playing with somebody you trust instead of searching for any running LAN games.
Like the two posters before me pointed out, there are indeed no more servers for Sacred 1.
If you're looking for a good community to play with, I strongly recommend you to check out this site. They are a very friendly bunch, and I think there may still be people playing Sacred Underworld.
The Open Multiplayer server is not closed. They changed the server information.

To access the open lobby server you need to change the line in your "settings.cfg" file from
NETWORK_LOBBY : sacredeng.ascaron-net.com to:

NETWORK_LOBBY : 93.190.65.233

Then make sure the following ports are open:

UPD/TCP 2005-2010
UPD/TCP 7064 (Plus)
UPD/TCP 7066 (Underworld)
Actually, if they are directing us to an IP instead of a domain name, it sounds to me like they have lost something on the DNS side of things, probably due to the Ascaron bankruptcy.

Thanks, this worked perfectly for me, no fuss.
