I played through the game and Ice & Blood once with CP last year or so, it was fun. I think the original game with Ice & Blood has about 600 or so side quests but CP adds like 70. Of course 90% of those quests are way too similar and the rewards almost always bad but with CP they added the ability that some quests drop set items which was a nice surprise.

I just wish GOG would release the Gold Version fully updated. No updates and no DRM = no issues at all for me.
Is there any chance of GoG getting this DRM-free?

Good luck w/ that happening!

They'd have to talk to Deep Silver and CDV (who went insolvent) to sort out USA Distribution Rights.

That issue was NEVER sorted out.

DrIstvaan: , some of the game mechanics are not as well-thought out as in Sacred 1; for example, you have to increase CAs to a much higher level than in Sacred, and they have horrendous regeneration times.
Yes, what is sad with this game is that is a Sacred one..
If the Community Patch could remove this regeneration time rune system, it would be an excellent game!, instead of a casual one you play one time until you brake your character with too more runes.

I never liked the high regen in either Sacred games myself but I always made sure to only read 1 rune up until level 20 to 30 when you start get decent items that will lower it enough to increase them. This was I could use spells extremeley often but it makes for a more hectic game (as in you have to be fast to make advantage of your low regen but low effectiveness/damage).

It's actually quite funny how bad the balance is. I remember doing some statistics on the runes. In the second game spells that increase a duration like a defensive shield usually only increase 0.1 second per Combat Art level but could increase regeneration time by 2 to 10 seconds per Combat Art level, e.g not even worth to put more than 1 point until you're high level.
For all of y'all out there in USA...Might wanna keep your eyes open for any sales.

SACRED 2: GOLD EDITION is now listed on Gamersgate's USA website!
http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-S2G/sacred-2-gold-edition-bundle

It's even listed on GMG's USA page for Sacred 2: Gold, but that version requires Capsule:
http://www.greenmangaming.com/s/us/en/pc/games/rpgs/sacred-2/

Also, it's been added to Steam registry, I'm hearing/reading:
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3025668

I wonder if it'll hit GOG DRM-FREE, eventually...

Also, I asked Aubrey Norris (of Deep Silver) about if they'd ever remove Securom DRM on Gamersgate version; AND if those (Securom) keys will ever be allowed to activate up on Steam.
We'll see what happens w/ everything...

On the steam store page its listed as "Single Player" Im wondering if they removed the LAN options from the game. I know the us servers were taken offline but removing LAN would be a complete deal breaker for me. Anyone know?

That's really weird. I had probably bought it on Steam if I hadn't noticed that. Then again, I wonder if they really deleted SecuROM, it's a bitch in this game and drains performace. I think it might be worth waiting for the GOG version. Without DRM and if they keep LAN module, that would be freaking awesome.

If he returns with an answer also ask about multiplayer in the Steam version, if it's completely deleted or blocked or if they forgot or didn't assume anyone would use the LAN function?

I checked the Steam forums, and only one poster has said that it still has LAN. I'd wait for further confirmation or an official answer. The sale lasts for a while, so waiting does not hurt.
I need to check these forums more!

I'm asking Aubrey about the MP in Steam version of Sacred 2: Gold. See what she might know and all.

About getting Securom keys from GG to activate-up on Steam:

@deepsilver @Chupacaubrey @GamersGate Any chance those Sacred 2: Gold (Securom) keys will ever be allowed to activate-up on Steam?

Official Deep Silver ‏@deepsilver
@mysterd GamersGate and Steam are different so keys don't work on both, but we're working on getting Gold up on Steam.
About DRM:

@deepsilver Good to know! Any chance of Securom DRM-removal eventually on Sacred 2: Gold from @GamersGate ? Or going DRM-FREE to @GOGcom ?

Official Deep Silver @deepsilver
@MysterD the suggestion has been noted ;)

Official Deep Silver ‏@deepsilver

I'll let y'all know what happens w/ this, if and when something comes out of this...
Gamersgate is looking into matters concerning the Securom DRM in the Gamersgate-version of Sacred 2: Gold Edition.

@GamersGate Could you get Securom DRM removed from Sacred 2: Gold? Steam-version don't have Securom: http://steamcommunity.com/app/225640/discussions/0/846941710563752357/#c864956554531825442

GamersGate @GamersGate
@MysterD we are looking into this with the publisher.
Knowing this game quite a lot :

A - MP is still present , however no on-line MP , due to the fact the servers have been taken down since some time (mentioned above)

B - MP with a third party program is possible though

C - I don't know for the activation , but take this in account :

- initialy it was a mess up ; because the publisher for Europe and the USA were initianialy differents ; i don't know if it's still the case.

- imho , the acrivation (Securom) has no sense actually , i don't know how the publisher expects to remove this garbage since there're no more people for fixing the remaining bugs (the community did a better job than them). So execpting a drm removal .....sigh.

BTW It's Deep Silver's job to remove the drm , Knowing them i don't expect anything from them.

Beside this , use this tool to reduce a memory leak : http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php (only if you have 4 GB RAM+ , so basically a 64 bit Windows)
and the game may works or not with windows 7. (i suggest to use the community patch , lots of bugs fix, some quests and items have been added).

community patch : http://xmas.ancaria.net/patches/cm-patch0140hf.zip
