First, I tried to install the CM Patch V0150, but I got an Error - 'failed to patch c:\GOG Games\Sacred2 Gold\Sacred2Updater.exe'. The installation aborted itself. Tried the vanilla game and it still worked. Then I tried to install CM Patch V0140 and got the same error. Vanilla game still works. I also bought the game on Gamersgate before I found it on GOG. ( I will always buy every game I can on GOG, even if I already own it. ) I have been able to patch the other version. Obviously, I can play the Gamersgate version, but I would like for the GOG version to be playable with the Patch also. Any suggestions?

edit: So it turns out that I am completely missing the Sacred2Updater.exe application. There is one in the Gamersgate/Steam version. I have uninstalled and re-installed a couple of times, but it always comes up the same. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

I find myself, that before apply the cm patch, I must play the game for 2-3 minutes, make a save, close the game and apply the CM patch, I think it is about something with registry...

It would never have occurred to me to try this. Thank you for the advice, it worked perfectly. Had I known how to make this a question from the beginning, I would have marked it as solved. Now I can disappear into this game for a few days. Thanks again for the help.

The GOG version of Sacred 2 does include Sacred2Updater.exe. However, some anti-virus software can flag that executable as malware. If you have AV software set to automatically quarantine suspected threats, that could explain why the file is missing for you.
