I'm having trouble getting the multiplayer server list to show up in the game. I know that the gamespy servers shut down, but my friend who purchased this through Steam can see the updated server list. I read on another site that this game has been updated through gog.com so that it can receive the new server list as well. I can get Rune Gold multiplayer to see the server list, but not classic.

I just purchased the game so it's not showing that i need an update.

Any suggestions?

I found a fix on http://therune.boards.net/.

1) Go to your installationfolder and find the /System folder
2) Open your Rune.ini file with a texteditor such as Notepad
3) Find (CTRL+F) each line that includes master.gamespy.com or master0.gamespy.com and replace it with master.333networks.com. By default there should be 3 lines that need to be replaced.
4) Save the file
5) Done, you can start up the game and the new masterserver should work
