The game freezes in the corridor after leaving Gabby in the beginning of the chapter.

I've tested with two XP SP3 computers. I could speak to the guard before the freeze in one of the computers.

What to do?

As far as anyone knows the only solution is to spend as little time as possible in the hallway and save often when you're in the hallway and when Ernie (orderly who is sitting at the other end of hallway) is there. His presence seems to be the cause of crashes, however in scenes where he is elsewhere the game won't crash. It's very frustrating but it's possible to finish the game if you have enough patience to do save-reload-save routine.
