Hello every body !
My first thoughts about Ruiner were :
"Waow ! At least a Hack 'n' Slash in Gibbson's Cyberpunk !" "Yeah ! At last some devs took it med-fan was not the only genre to support this type of games !"
Well... What I didn't think was : "Easy mode will be my main standard difficulty"
Even if the gameplay is not extraordinary complicated, I needed at least the prologue and the first set of missions to get a hand of it. Nevertheless it was refreshing in a good way to learn a new (not so ?) method to play. Yet it was very suprising and a bit upsetting at first.
Another thing I didn't think when I first bought the game was "Well it ll be over after 20 hours max'"
I usually tend to be avergae even if try hard gamer, but there I expected at last about fifty hours game...
I certainly will get them before long if I stick to my usual try hard spirit, but... At which cost ? for my sanity..?
I really find the game hard as long as we dont have about 60 points to put in the skills... But I might be the only one in this case so... I ll complain lonely there.
On the other hand, there are things that really fill me up with frustration, one of which is :
I really didn't like the scenario, quite rread such one too many time already, I expected to be surprised. Maybe not like "I ve never seen such twist ever" but maybe something that would have surprised me.
Maybe I m asking too much as I'm 43 y. old I may have read and.or watch too much books, movies stories, yet... It could have been nice to get some more wicked twists unexpected at first and second glance.
Plz if you intend to sell DLC make sure to put some insanity and amorality in it. Wasn't it what was sold ? We incarnate a psychopath ? Really ? I almost thought I was playing the average Knight on this one...
Another thing I ve been sad about it the rewards of side quests, they are not shown on the screen when we come back to close them (the one about coins isn't possible to close by the way as the epilogue doesn't finish in the HQ).
Could it be possible to patch the rewards so that we can have a visual confirmation there was no miss in the secondary quest sequence plz ?
To finish on my impresisons of Ruiner :
I d add that it would be nice to have at least a kind of separation between unlocked stuff/locations/side quests/... per difficulty mode and the saves of the campain. So that if we make the mistake to launch a new game in a different or same mode at least we are allowed to try ourselves on the challenges a bit more practically... I made this kind of mistake and will have to play again (probably same difficulty by the way... Easy was my usual normal difficulty to be honest)
To close on the good parts :
_ The art was brilliant, I really found myself in awe in front of such quality of the draws. The whole game really gives a sensation of work up to the last strike. And that makes it a top ten for me. All the details are fine and it didn't feel like something was missing but a zoom to appreciate it at point blank gaze maybe ;-p
_ The foreing lingo made me travel in foreign country too and I really thank your game designer for that (plus sound devs too). I was really pleased to ear a language I didn't hear at all or often.
_ The cyberpunk ambiance was really nice too even if there was not enough outside free violence to glance at, to help me wonder what it would like to live in such area/environment for real.
I've suffered no bugs nor glitch or any other kind of bug during my play time and that too was a first since The Witcher. Thanks a lot to your team.
All considered I d give a 6/10 satisfactory mark as I expected a lot from this game I bought in pre sale and waited for so much time.
Please don't stop here and accpet my Best Wishes for your next moves. Your work is nice already.
