Despite what the shop page says (Windows 10 compatibility), I simply can't run RCT2 under Windows 10. Right after clicking on the desktop shortcut, it displays a Windows error and then nothing happens.

I used the German version that can be downloaded from the library, which to me also looked like it was using an old(er) GOG installer. Maybe that is the reason why the game doesn'r run under Windows 10: The installer/configuration of RCT2 was created before Windows 10 had been released.
RCT2 itself works on Windows 10 as far as non-GOG versions go.

Try reinstalling the game, possibly to a different folder, and run it as administrator. Running it in 16-bit colour mode may also help.

It may at times do wacky stuff when it is supposed to show the Infogrames Interactive logo, so it may take a few tries.
I tried it all again, but it didn't work. I found out however that this actually seems to be a problem with the German offline installer of RCT2. If I install the game via GOG Galaxy, it works. Maybe the installer is just outdated...

It works just fine; but I prefer to use OpenRCT2 these days.
I had the same crash issue. Heres how to fix it:

1. Open Programs and Features (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features)
2. Click on "Turn Windows features on or off
3. Enable Legacy Components
4. Run RCT2

P.S. Yes, you do not need to set a compatibility mode, only those "Legacy Components" that are disabled by default on W10.

Doesn't work for me. :/

When I launched the game through galaxy I did get a popup asking me to install directplay, it then launched but crashed saying it couldn't initialize the graphics...
Run the game as administrator.
hey all, ive just purchased Rollercoaster Tycoon 2.
Been trying to download it at least 4 times from GOG webpage but when it reaches the end it says " Failed ".
I've attempted the download 5 times and spent most of my day trying to work it out. I have sent an email to GOG for a a refund but i would rather have the problem fixed rather than going through the hassle, as i've enjoyed this game for many years i would like to own it again. If anyone could help me on this matter that would be great thanks very much.
If you're having problems actually downloading a game, check if there's something that blocks it from finishing. Otherwise, that's something you need to raise with GoG Tech Support.

The FAQ has some info for you, see chapter 7: http://www.gog.com/support/website_help/downloads_and_games
