I've read about every thread I can find trying to fix this. I am using windows 7. I have run as administrator, changed compatibility (W98/ME and XP SP.2, disabled visuals too). I have tried to open the games in the Saved Game folder and used file 001 to start the programme. Nothing works. I crashes and says RCT.exe, windows has encountered a problem, but it doesn't give a solution.

I know very little about computers so forgive me if i am a bit green, i would really like some help on this though.

Thanks in advance!

The game runs most stable if you tick the Disable Visual Themes and Disable Desktop Composition in the RCT.exe compatibility tab.

How exactly? Through the game's save/load function or by double-clicking on an SV4 file while outside of the game?

Wait wait wait, you're saying you were trying to run the 001 file in the Saved Games folder which has the size of 1 KB and only has a zero as its content? Why?

Okay loads of questions and terms i don't understand haha! I read to run the game through 001 file would allow me to load it. It didn't. So i tried loading my saved games through the game itself and through the saved games folder in windows (I assume this is the SV4 file you mean?). Yes this was outside of the game. I have disabled those feature to no avail :(

Tell me who told you this. It makes no sense.

Why don't you try loading a game by entering RCT and then loading something from the menus, like you're supposed to? :P

In most cases, the saved games files are not assigned to be launched by RCT1 for some reason if you're using the old CDs and are not running the setup as admin, but I don't know why this would occur with the GoG version.
