Is there any reason why this game won't install to the GOG.com folder like all the other GOG games? It defaults to GOGcom and will not accept any folders with a "period" in it.

Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri has the same behavior. I've asked GOG support about it and they've answered: "The installation path is modified on purpose, intalling SMAC into a folder with special signs in it's name often causes problems. "

I too have this same question. It's been almost a year since this question was asked. - surely somebody must have a reply!
