Whenever I try launching the game (through both the launcher and rct.exe files) I get this error message

Exception Raised- Access Violation

Error Location: Windows Display Driver

I have tried running in all compatibility mode as well with no luck...any help would be greatly appreciated

System:
Windows 7 64bit
ATI Radeon HD 5670 Display Driver

I too seem to be getting this, but it only happens occaisionally.

System:
Wndows 7 32-bit
ATI HD Radeon 4670

It appears that the problem lies with ATI GPUs, but we won't know for sure until someone with a Nvidia card posts.

As for a possible solution: have you tried running it as an administrator?

I too am getting this error and I have an ATI Radeon HD 4250.

It would be my assumption that is an error with ATI graphics cards.

Hopefully they fix it soon.... I need my RCT fix lol

I have an Nvidia Card and I'm getting this error as well.

Specifically I have: Nvidia Geforce GTX590 x 2

Have you guys tried turning off Data Execution Prevention?

Go into Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System > Advanced system settings > Advanced tab > Performance Settings... > Data Execution Prevention tab.
Switch to 'Turn on DEP for all programs except those I select' (the second option). Click 'Add...', find "launcher.exe" or "RCT.exe" , and add it. Click 'Apply'.

Also Catalyst A.I on ATI cards can also interfere in some old games so try turning that off in the control centre. And if you have two graphics cards in SLI/Crossfire try disabling one of them.

after quite abit of testing, I finally managed to get RCT to work. If this doesn't work, make sure that you've set

you the compatibilty of RCT-1 to Win 98/Me

1. Navigate to your RCT scenario's folder E.g (D:\Program Files\Hasbro Interactive\RollerCoaster Tycoon\Scenarios)
Or C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\RollerCoaster Tycoon Deluxe\Scenarios
2. Right click any scenario and hit Open With...

3. Open with rct.exe

For some strange reason, this completely bypasses the Exception Error. Hope this help you guys after such a long

time.

It works now excellent on my WinXP version !
