First playthrough and I was hopelessly stuck on the final boss, with a bunch of character classes I didn't even like, legions of dead ancestors, underleveled and with no will left to grind for gold. I was ready to give up.

By coincidence, a very simple solution came to me while reading about a completely different game: "Just trash your save and start anew". I did just that. My motivation to play was multiplied tenfold and in no time I killed the bosses one after the other, using only my favorite classes. After 8 hours 30ish minutes and the death of 54 ancestors, my level 104 Barbarian Queen Lady Blair IV finally put down that final foe, giving me a mouthful of that sweet sweet taste of victory.

So, even though I had to sacrifice everything and restart from scratch, coming this close to hating it, I can say I loved the game (both gameplay and story-wise) and that I regret nothing. It was all worth it in the end.

Also, I think Johannes was the real hero of this story.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and happy gaming!
I just finished Rogue Legacy in normal mode and wanted to gloat about how triumphant it feels after obsessively playing it for so long. RL is one of those games that drains you after an unsuccessful run but is fun to still shrug off and keep trucking along.

Now for a due break I'll give Unepic a try.

Sometimes it´s a fact of trying other classes or playing differently. I remember having lots of trouble too with the final boss, but now it´s nearly the easiest for me.

NG+ and NG++ are fun too, I would recommend giving them a chance. NG+3 and up just get more and more annoying as you can reach a level cap, so you can´t keep leveling but enemies can. Then it´s just locking the castle every run, doing a rush to boss rooms, using teleporters, and just being as cheap as you can on those bosses. That´s when IMO the game isn´t as fun.

You can unlock too some awesome equipment on NG+ and NG++ :)
