Installed the game, then got ther error message

directx 12 is not supported on your system. try running without the -dx12 or -d3d12 command line argument

My windows and gpu drivers (amd) are updated, and use the command line didn't work.

Anyone ele with this problem and knows how to solve?

Have you tried moving the install to a different hard drive? My copy only works on my M.2 for some reason.

There's a very long Steam forum thread on this topic, it seems like this doesn't actually mean DX12 is unsupported, but that __certain advanced features__ of DX12 aren't supported, that the game requires.

Most common causes are
-- using a version of Windows 10 that isn't new enough (needs to be 21Hsomething or 22Hsomething)
-- GPU drivers
-- other random, inexplicable weird software causes that confuse the game, I guess?

Ten thousand curses upon "bleeding edge" game devs who insist on REQUIRING completely unnecessary latest tech for their big games, and then don't bother to give meaningful error messages when the user's PC doesn't support it.

I think the problem lies with the fact you need the 2022 V C++ Redist. It doesn't come with the installer at all...which is absolutely stupid.

Same problem here. Not happy. I have that and I still get the DX12 error :'(

From what I've read...the DX12u errors come from having an outdated build of Windows 10, or outdated GPU drivers. This game relies on the Agility SDK. Also, certain older Nvidia and Radeon cards which might support dx12 do not fully support dx12u. Actually dx 12 ultimate started with the 20 series and the RX6800. Any of those could be the issue. The game uses UE5 with Lumen and Nanite features, so I think their minimum specs are kinda sus....like Cyberpunk's was at release.

My GPU is a Radeon RX 7600, that came out last year, so i assume that the problem is my ""outdated"" windows.

It is massively disappointing. I really super wanted to play this. I'm not going to ask for a refund but looks like I will have to wait 2-3 years until I get another machine and then I might get to play this. sigh.

Windows 10 with 2070 Super latest drivers (yes all latest drivers) doesn't solve the issue.

What version of windows are you using?

Windows 10 LTSC.

There's your answer actually. LTSC is not a gaming OS and has had this issue with other UE5 games such as Talos 2. The latest version is of course 2021 which is equivalent to 21h2. However, LTSC only updates security features and skips all the rest such as DirectX features. You know how windows is when you don't update through their usual methods. A quick internet search shows slews of topics about LTSC and Unreal 5.

I play a lot on this system and never had any problems until now.

Guess i will have to download a more recent version.

I'm having the same error message on my computer. It's a Nitro 5 Laptop I got last year, and from my understanding it's at least two years old before that. But I have all current updates for it and it still wont start!
