Alright, the last real mission I did, was the "The Lock-up and the Friar", I believe. It's mission 9. After that, I had my first defense mission, the one where you buy blazons before you go Rambo everybody anyway.

But now, the game keeps sending nothing but those stupid ambush missions my way. I've done AT LEAST 10 of them in a row. Every time I complete one, I'm hoping the game would continue on with a real mission so I can finish this godforsaken game some time, but no, no such luck. It just keeps giving me these ambush missions, which I no longer care about AT ALL since they're always the same. I just run to the money sacks so I can finish it faster.

But how long will these ambush missions keep appearing? Do I need to have a specific amount of money in my purse before the game moves on? I have about 44k now, I would gladly give them all away if the game would just let me move on in the campaign!! Please tell me that it's because of money, and that I need only 6k more, because then I would only have to do another two ambush missions. Or what else could be the problem?

I've been playing a game and now I'm where at you got stuck.

During a conversation in an earlier mission, Robin was talking about how he wishes to pay the ransom for a guy he knew, which is 100k.
I assume we need to gather that much money before the next mission unlocks.

So, it seems now that the game actually decreases the amount of money Robin has after each successful "side-mission", which makes the game unfinishable....

BUYING blazons is only one possible way to gain them. The disadvantage is that this costs you money that you actually need to pay the ransom at a point in the game. And after the first bought blazon each additional blazon costs more money in the same attack or defence mission.
So you can use money - but then you have to gather more money playing generic mission and emptying every pocket of your enemies men.
Or you can send volunteers to gain a blazon, saving the money - but then you have to take care not to kill too many enemies because the more enemies you kill (instead of knocking them out and constraining them with a rope) the less additional men join your cause.
Or you can play a mission to gain blazons. As renthicya already wrote the ransom for Richard is 100.000 pounds silver that you need to have before you are able to send the messenger to Austria to negotiate the King’s release.
