It seems to be a very rare/obscure issue... I tried searching for other cases, but there are very few instances of people having similar issues. Almost all involved Anno 1404 and of the potential solutions there weren't any that would apply here.

Since it didn't run with the libraries provided by the Steam Runtime I can only guess that it's a configuration issue on your system, or maybe something's broken on Gentoo?
