Just started Risen 2 Gold for the first time and everything except the GUI is black. In scenes with distance fog (like the cityscape in the intro) silhouettes of the scene can be discerned, but once the game proper starts, only the GUI is visible. If I open the inventory, my character is also only a silhouette. There are dark pink/purplish 1px borders on the left and top side of the screen in-game.
Everything is completely default both as far as the settings in Nvidia's control panel and the game ini files are concerned. I've also tried disabling Nvidia's compatibility flag for antialiasing and also disabling antialiasing in-game as suggested by the only articles on a similar issue I can find on the net - but that issue is AMD-specific and thus should not affect my system, and the suggested solutions (translated to Nvidia terms) of course did not help.
Has anyone seen this issue on Nvidia-based systems and fixed it? As things are now, the game is completely unplayable due to the black screen. Additionally, despite the lack of textures, framerate is reported at 15-25 fps.
System specs:
Windows 8.1 Pro x64
Intel Core i5 3770
24 GB RAM
Nvidia GTX 660 2,5GB
Attempted and failed fixes:
* Changed the antialiasing behavior flag for the game in Nvidia Inspector from 0x00000005 to default "None" because the same action in AMD Catalyst is suggested to fix the issue on AMD cards. Not working (restored the profile to defaults)
* Disabling in-game anti-aliasing (suggested fix for same issue on AMD cards). Not working.
* Disabling ShadowPlay since it adds an overlay. Not working.
* DIsabled "water reflections", which is a suggested fix for both black textures (on AMD) and slow framerates (on Nvidia). Not working. Both issues persist.
* Uninstalled Nvidia 3D Vision (suggested fix for low framerates on Nvidia cards). Not working (still completely black textures, and no change in framerate).
Needless to say; not very happy with this game so far.
