At the top of the list of Risen 2's many sins against the Gothic/Risen universe is Jaffar and his tribe.
A lot of the time I spent playing this game was filled with making excuses for it, trying to find positives (of which there are some to be found) in the face of the many negatives. Jaffar I cannot forgive.
In a vacuum where he was an original character with no connection to Risen 1, I might not hate him so much. But the fact is, he is the mutant progeny the Risen 1 gnomes.
Risen 1 gnomes are possibly the best species of monster in the entire Gothic/Risen series. In fact, they're the best small pest monsters I've ever seen in a fantasy game. They're funny with loads of character, and while they're generally annoying, they have the potential to be dangerous in large numbers. They're so good there's really only one way you could truly ruin them, and that's to anthropomorphise them and make them NPCs instead of monsters. Enter Jaffar.
I command Jar-Jar...I mean Jaffar...to die and never return.
