Since M is so variable, does anyone know more specifically what the game has that's objectionable? If it's like Oblivion I'm much more interested. If it's like GTA, not really. Any one got a link or personal opinion?

I didnt play it yet, because I just got it (I was one of those that preferred a non steam version), but I think it is similar to the other games of the same studio (like the first part of this game or the gothic series until gothic 3). So I think it is more like Oblivion, maybe even less violent, except the speech, this is maybe more rough than in Oblivion, especially because of the pirate setting.

I've played Risen 2 and it's closer to Oblivion than GTA in relation to gameplay.

The language is pretty coarse at times due to the pirate setting and combat takes time to get used to, but IMO this is a much better RPG than many give it credit for. I had a lot of fun with this game.

There's a good helping of humour and plenty to do, explore etc., but if you've just played Risen I'd suggest waiting a bit before jumping into Risen 2 as the combat style will seem harder to adapt to than it actually is.

Closer to Oblivion.

Except the dialogue is more witty and characters swear very often. I loved the voice acting. Jafar was hilarious.

another sugestion from the euroean view:
visual its more like elder scrolls.
language is a bit harder (mostly played the german version, but first half an hour play in english; you will hear the f..-word some times), use of drugs (drinking Rum to heal yourself) and some buyable ladys.
All in All ists your personel preference, in Germany this game is p16 (16 years up).

Thanks for the info! Going on my wishlist, and I'll look for a no-swearing mod, since that's the only non-optional part it seems.

I doubt that there exist something like this. Also I think that something like this would ruin the game a little bit...
