i basically did a lot of digging. Rott did end up being shafted with doom and quake out at the same time but ROTT combated superior graphics with rampant gore and violence witch duke would take to an new level. persionaly hope that the new apogee get tasked with porting the gam to xbla format after all apogee still has the code for this game.
