Hi.

Just installed the new RoTT game and first look is great, but since I'm used to play using the keypad keys, it would be nice, if someone could tell me, what I have to do, to get the game recognise these keys. Using the input options ingame doesn't seem to recognise these keys.
I've found the ini file under "c:\users\<myusername>\documents\My Games\Rise Of The Triad\ROTTGame\Config\ROTTGame.ini", but have not been successful in changing the options to the right values.

Any hlep is appreciated.

Regards,

John
Since no else seemed to care, I looked around and found a solution. Just edit the ini-file I mentioned in my first post using the value from the following page .... udn.epicgames.com/Three/KeyBinds.html#Keyboard
This at least helped me using the keypad keys.

No thanks to Gog or the developer!

Yeah, back in the day it was a given that a PC game would be configurable on 99.999% of the keys available. Now that we are in the time of console ports, cell phone/tablet apps and the 'Cloud' (first a topology term and now a fuzzy marketing term - let's just call it the Internet, shall we?), Keyboard binds seem to be dropped by the wayside. Especially for left-handed people like myself.

Why is it that devs forget about one of the two main controllers for the Desktop and focus on the gamepad instead? Makes no sense. This game was meant for Mouse and Keyboard, no quesiton.

Anyway, I wouldn't blame GOG. They bend over backwards for a lot of extras, and help out with most of the older games when they don't work as expected on newer hardware/software. I blame the devs for this one. If they are in any way responsive, they will fix the issue within a week - 2 tops.

The fix is there and it works, but players shouldn't have to cobble something together for every new game that comes along.

At the end of the day, I love the devs too - for if they weren't here we wouldn't be playing this excellent reboot!

You're right about that. I was a little bit pissed, because this game is the first one in years that I preordered and having the keypad is crucial for me. I'm used to that configuration since like Quake 1 or which game was the first which made you look up and down. AND I think it is not a unreasonable question to have nearly all keys available.

Once I changed the keys, I was happy as I'm now, but I still hope they change that in one of the next updates.
Join my voice to the pissed off individuals. Seriously, I can't even use right shift and right control, which is what I NORMALLY use for jump and duck respectively.

If you look at John_Hatcher's first two notes (above), he shows you what you need to edit in order to resolve the problem. I use those exact keys myself. and screw WASD!

In the .ini file, the keys are (incorrectly) set for LeftShift and LeftControl - even if you select the keys you want when you bind them.

You need to change the values exactly to RightShift and RightControl respectively. The link in John's second message shows you how each key bind should be typed. I would also make sure it is also in the proper case, just to be sure.
Just had this problem myself. Thanks to you it was a quick fix!
