You know, as I play the game I often find myself wanting quicksaves.. and I think as a whole I really do want them... but I know once they add them to the game, (if they do) it's going to hurt some of the challenge and satisfaction isn't it?

I mean I just spent the last hour screaming at my screen getting destroyed by NME... and the whole time I wanted quicksaves... halfway down his healthbar, I'm doing ok, only to slip up and EXPLODE... man what I wouldnt give for quicksaves....

then I beat him... oh man it felt good... I screamed in satisfaction all that frustration all that hate released in a blaze of Glory...

If we get quicksaves... that's just not going to happen anymore...and despite the frustration... I would really miss the checkpoints.

(I still want quicksaves though)
A better question would be, how would savescumming ruin the online leaderboards? Hopefully if/when it's implemented, it wipes the player's score.

If you want challenge don't use them. Infact the could implement a special survival mode or option that disables quicksave features.

Thief 4 is supposed to offer a way to turn off many of the new features such as improved combat, and the magic "eagle" (as Assassin's Creed called it) sight to make it more 'old school' and challenging.

Perhaps ROTT could make it so you can turn it off from a menu? Or maybe ask you about it when you first install the game?
I'm fine with checkpoints in linear games, but they need to do them more often. Every time I die in this game I feel like I lose 10+ minutes, which is insanity.

But the actual system gives some stress and increase the challenge. I like it.
I like QS in games, and especially in hard games, like ROTT.
I really want QS' also.
But, if they just put in more checkpoints, and have the checkpoints saved when you exit (like exiting before the end of the level, and when you come back in, you are at that exact checkooint save) I wouldnt mind that at all.

Fred tells about QS and checkoints, and what will be done with them in future patches, on the Interceptor Entertainment forums.

Either way though, the game rocks.
Serious REAL oldschool play, and tons of fun.
So glad it came to gog, and that it even came out at all.
I enjoy the challenge of the checkpoints as well. Definitely ramps up the difficulty even higher. I do tend to agree that it would be nice to maybe have them more often, or at least right before parts they KNOW are going to be a struggle for most players but so far lack of QS hasn't bothered me too much.
