Just looking at this old school game and noticing that it says it requires Win10. Is that for real? Did they develop with a graphics library wasn't made for Win8 or earlier? Just strange to see such an old school game require such a modern OS. C'est la vie I suppose.

Hi,

The system requirements (including the OS) are based on what I could realistically test and confirm on my own. A few users reported that it runs on Windows 7 without any issues, but I'm unable to check this at this point.

Cheers,

As in you're the GoG person who wrote up the requirements?? If so, I am shocked and thrilled to get an official response! That'd be just amazing. GoG has been so good to me over the years. It's so refreshing to be able to download DRM files and just run them without the DRM and generally without the internet requirements.

I'm the developer of this game, so I provided the official system requirements. I'll update the system requirements if I'll be able to officially confirm that the game works on Windows 7 without issues -- alas, I can't base the official requirements on unofficial reports.

Thank you for your interest in the game!

Wow, the dev in person! Thank you so much for the reply!

The little game's just $8, so I went ahead and bought it. You easily deserve that much for just keeping up with these forums!

I downloaded Ringlorn Saga to my Win7 Pro 64-bit system and it installed and seems to run perfectly. The installer says it's 64-bit and I see the "made with Unity" logo go by as it starts, in case that's useful for anyone with compatibility questions. I don't see a version number in-game, but the GoG download link says "221201" in the version column.

It's sending out Ultima vibes and the opening cut scene seems great. I think I'm really going to enjoy this! I think it'll be relaxing, nostalgic fun for me as soon as I finish murdering half of Night City in Cyberpunk 2077. That game's a beautiful blast, but the the violence is a little stomach turning if you stop to think about it for even a moment.

Thanks again for the response! Looking forward to Ringlorn!

Thank you!

I'll find a way to test the game on Windows 7, and if everything works just fine, I'll update the system requirements ASAP.
Yomigael, thank you for being a caring developer! I'll look forward to what your humble tests will reveal.

I can confirm in my own relatively short testing: It does work on a Windows 7 Pro (x64) system with an RX580 GPU on an old driver (AMD is buggy on newer for me, no matter 7 or 10). On GOG, too often the case we have no developers on the forum, are getting ignored or in not rare cases a developer may be here yet despise anything not Windows 10 (including Linux systems), other cases may include abandoning GOG versions with not delivering updates anymore. It's very great to see the pro-customer developers still exist and you are one of.

Hi,

The system requirements got updated. I've managed to test the game on Windows 7 and can confirm it's working flawlessly.

Thank you for your patience.
Speaking of system requirements, I was able to run the Linux build of the game without issue on a computer with intel integrated graphics, even though the system requirements specify dedicated graphics.

(In case it matters, the CPU is a Celeron.)
