I didn't expect this game to be on GOG, and certainly not on my language (French) but now i had to buy it :)

With its community of a far from niche size, Re-volt is one of the underdogs of racing games.

One question remains : Does it include Wolf R4/unofficial patches ?

EDIT : Looks like it's a really Custom Version for GOG, because some changes are built-in (modern resolution, car limitations...). The game, like other GOG products, works like a charm.

Yep, I'm overjoyed by the coming of Re-volt on GOG!!

(by the way, I'm french too, even if I don't live in France these days ;) )

So, i'd like to know what exactly are the changes between the "barebones" original version and GOG's version?

I don't want to apply patches and mods that could be already included or worse, break the game...
I actually contacted the company who now owns the rights to the game a few months ago and told them about GOG. Glad to see this on GOG now!

I will reply in english for everyone. As far as i played, i noticed :

-No need to apply unofficial patch or WolfR4 launcher. It works genuinly for modern systems
-Up to 11 AI, you can have clones on races
-Track Editor, sound ans Stats Works
-Controller and widescreen Support (the joystick is bind like arrow keys so it's weird)
-Slightly prettier

@Omnia: Hello there, it's nice to see you're such a Re-Volt fan. :-)

This Re-Volt version that GOG is distributing includes the unofficial Patch known as Re-Volt 1.2 Beta 11.0208 made in 2011. This patch is based in the official patches made by Acclaim in 1999 (Re-Volt 1.1) with many new improvements and bug fixes added. WolfR4 is not included in 1.2 because that is an older complement made in 2009 designed for Re-Volt 1.1 only. Most of the WolfR4 features are being introduced in the Re-Volt 1.2 Alpha which is still in development.
You can find a full list of the New features that were included in the 1.2 Beta Patch right here in the official site:

http://rv12.revoltzone.net/features.php

This is a small summary of them:

What's new in Re-Volt v1.2?
• Full support for all Windows OS including XP, Vista and 7 32 & 64-bit.
• Widescreen & Multi-Monitor Support.
• Multi-Core Processors Support.
• Improved Display & Fonts for better readability.
• Faster Loading of Levels & Boot start.
• Player Ready Timeout was reduced to 15 seconds.
• Fixed crash when loading Battle Tag levels.
• Fixed "can't open CRC checksum" error.
• Fixed "can't flip display buffers" error.
• Improved performance, speed and stability.
• Lots of other optimizations and bug fixes.

I'll be clear with you. The Patch 1.2 is NOT a GOG product, it is not a custom version made by GOG and it was not specially made for GOG. This Patch 1.2 Beta that is included in GOG's version has existed since 2011. GOG just took it now and is distributing it because it's the only stable version nowadays.

Now that you know this, I think the quality compliments go to the people that really deserve it and made this patch possible. They are 2 re-volt players named Huki and Jigebren.

First thanks for the correction.
Then i'd like to say that i'm used to the unofficial patches, Wolf R4 and all that. I only though it was custom for GoG because of the intro mentioning a structure i've never heard of, that the sound worked (and no patchs fixed that so far) and some changes were new for me.

I was regularly consulting sites like RVTT or the Jigebren site, but i've never heard of "that form", only of 12.07 and Wolf R4, which i used regularly.

I was suspecting some earlier efforts were kept by the "unknown structure", but i didn't imagine the structure in question was the one who bring the other stuffs.

Apart from that I was noting that, like all GoG Games, it worked really well. That's what i called "a GoG Product".

Kudos To the whole community who's keeping the game alive !

Ditto. Now I'm only waiting for Lotus III, LEGO Racer, Star Wars: Episode I Racer, Rollcage, Road Rash, Future Cop LAPD, Heart of Darkness, The Neverhood, OMF 2097, Turok 1-2, the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series (at least 2-3-4) and all of LucasArts' classic adventure games. Who am I kidding? The list goes on and on... :) (But these are the ones I'd most probably buy instantly on the day they are released here, on GOG.)
