Hello,

I tried using antialiasing filters but noticed that the only thing that it achieved was making a blurry mess out of this game. In my humble opinion the best way to play it is without any AA filters, just the unfiltered pixels that give this game a retro feel.

I did not think this will be the case, but these jaggy pixels actually look better then the upscaled, smoothed-out antialiased look when using filters. I am currently playing in 2x nearest neighbour filter and loving it. (2x because 640x480 is a very standard resolution so my tv has no problems with it).

Here's a comparison to illustrate my point (I used 4x filter):

Of course. AA is working in that way (it's smooth every sharp edge). I am playing without any AA or filters in 320x240.

Oh yeah. I don't even know why those AA filters are even IN the setup file. The results always look awful. Unfortunately, AGS doesn't let me change which settings are in that setup file. Otherwise I would have removed those filter settings years ago!
There are some interesting upscaling algorithms like SAI and Super Eagle that are used in SCUMVMM, sometimes to good effect. Pity these are not available in AGS games.
The only filter I ever use on AGS games is HQ. And then it depends on the game whether I use it or not. Some games don't even support it because they're 16-bit.

I know I'm the minority here, but I sort of like the effect of the AA filter. Sure the game gets a bit blurry, but for me it ends up looking a lot better on my big screen. I suppose it boils down to being a matter of taste.

I agree. I found that the 2x AA looked better (less blurry) than the 4x AA. In the opening screen I could tell that the thing by the bed was an alarm clock using AA. Using the other filters I couldn't tell what it was, it was just a blob of pixels.
