I wonder why you can care for widescreen, but don't care when the image is unnaturally stretched when 4:3 is stretched to 16:9 then. That's really weird. A stretched image is fugly. And, circles aren't round, squares aren't squares, and faces and bodies look completely unrealistic.

Your reply just prove yourself as a hypocrite. You were arguing on the other thread over what people call the PlayStation console as, which by the way 'PSX' is the most common name for that over the world. You were fiercely fighting over that and seemed pretty upset about what MOST people call it.

Furthermore, you are either a kid or a loser adult with psychological problems trying to annoy people everywhere just by contradicting what MOST people say or care about.

And by the way, stretched images look horrible af, very unnatural and weird.

I guess I really pissed you off if you started to throw personal insults at me this much. It's a fact that the PS1 is not called PSX officially, but tolerating and not being bothered by stretched widescreen is an opinion and a preference. There is a big difference between a preference/opinion and a fact. I just told people that they can call it PSX, but it's not the official name. The reason why there was an argument about it in the first place is because they didn't wanted to admit that.

This thread is about a request to do widescreen. I pointed out why it's unrealistic, and why a stretched 16:9 picture sucks. Just to reiterate.

I don't think it's possible for them to make proper widescreen. When the RE1 remake was remastered, Capcom implemented a widescreen option the way that the camera zoomed in and the camera moved a little bit back and forth to show the areas that were cut off. I don't think that it's possible to do that in these older games, since they were made with even more limited technology than the RE1 Remake. You have to sacrafice either being it stratched, or the sides being black.

Because it depends on the game and not everyone uses 16:9 screen.
On the deck for example, 4:3 stretched into 16:10 for some games almost looks even better. HELL even some old DOS games you can see that round objects are pretty much a perfect circle.

But still remains, some people don't care if a circle is not perfect or square is closer to a rectangle than a square. Some people just want to use the whole screen and are happy with it.

That's really strange, but, you're right, obviously there are people who rather have a full widescreen picture, with unnaturally stretched everything.

You can have that anyway though. Just set your monitor up so that it displays 4:3 content stretched to 16:9, and "enjoy" your unnaturally stretched picture. ;) Every monitor has that functionality.

I don't stretch 4:3 to 16:9. I do 3:2 DOS games into 16:10, which some do look and some don't. In some cases if the software or emulator allows i do stretch 4:3 into 16:10 and then by hand i stretch it vertically. For examples PCSX2 allows it which some times does a better job than the built in widescreen hack.
Plus people actually enjoy to use the whole screen instead of having black bars so it's actually enjoy and not "enjoy"

Exchanging black bars for a stretched picture is a very bad deal.

I'd rather ask for some snazzy boarders to cover the black space.

But theres probably a way to do that anyway, I haven't looked into it because it really doesn't bother me much. The boarders are nice but I can live without them.

These games don't need to be in widescreen. The games are designed around their original format. People who demand games be stretched just to fill the entire screen should be shunned from polite society.
