it's not working no matter what

Hello,

I'm having the exact same issue, I already tried restarting and reinstalling the game.
I was able to get to the lab, but after that I can't use the box nor open doors.
Oddly enough, If I aim with the equipped weapon, it automatically shoots itself.
This has extended to the rest of the game, so now I'm unable to play.
I was using a PS5 controller, I tried disconnecting it and using the keyboard, but the issue persists.
It neither is the keyboard, as unplugging it did not work...

Same exact issue but with a xbox controller, left the game for a couple hours and when i came back and started the game again the action button is missing during gamplay but works just fine on the key configuration menu, also the aim button shoots by itself too now

Same issue here! I played the game earlier today, no issues. Now the A button doesn't work in game, I can't open the door to get into Kendos shop.

Was having the same issue. I fixed it by closing Steam while playing.

Same issue as others here, but closing steam did not fix it for me.

Update: Working now. A PC restart after install may have helped, but I'm not sure.

Same as @Mortsgreb here. Aiming also automatically shoots as @ShizuruHIME stated.
Pressing 'B' validates the selection on the menu, but ingame it opens up the inventory; whereas 'A' does nothing.
The game was working correctly day one but it seems to have mapping issues now.

An update:

A day has passed and tried playing again, and it works now, same controller same everything, it may at some point randomly stop working again, this might need to be cheked out

I need to do more testing on this but what I found out is that if I launch the game using the launcher, the one where you can select either campaign, the action key will not work
Now if I browsed to the install location and launched re2 directly using the "Leon" or "Claire" exe in administrator mode I was able to use the action key again.
Like I said I may need more testing but I've tried this twice and it worked both times.

It's working for me as well now, I've played for an hour without any issue.
I launched the game using the GOG launcher.

I haven´t had any issues with playing over 4 hours at time..
Still playing with Claire A scenario
But I don´t have PS5 kind of controller..
Logitech F310 which is kind of replica of xbox controller..
But i closed steam,downloaded game via offline installers and put my win 10 to flight mode to
cut off the internet connection..
I putted exceptions on desktop icon and gog folder(from avast free version)
And always used desktop icon and run as admin..
Only issue I had on the first time to game crashing on taskbar..
But it´s early to say that will it happen on Leon scenarios or unlocked extras..
