Okay, so as the subject says; I've been experiencing some stuttering/freezing, that some of the times is even accompanied by a black screen while playing RE3. Now I saw this Italian guy on YouTube and he says that it has something to do with something added by the GOG team while doing the port, and he advices deleting a bunch of files from the installation folder. I mean, I could do that, but... with the stellar work that has been done by the GOG team bringing back these games, I rather report what's going on in here and maybe someone can help me.

The said stuttering and its variants occur at random times, sometimes it happens while I'm crossing a door, other times it happens when I get surrounded by zombies. It lasts anywhere from 2 to 6 seconds. I'm not playing this on a good pc, but I don't really think that matters. Both RE1 and RE2 play fantastically, and I only had a couple of issues with RE2 (not being able to aim without firing and not being able to open doors...) that got randomly fixed after I restarted my computer.

Things that I've tried already:
-Running it on full screen and windowed.
-Turning on and off antialiasing and anisotropic.
-Disabling the texture filtering with the F1 menu in-game. (That fixed the blurry backgrounds)
-Changed "DisableSpecular=off" to "DisableSpecular=on" in "bio3.ini". (Helped with the weird colors of blood)
-Changed internal resolution on the F1 menu in-game as well.

That's everything I have for now. I've seen some people suggesting the "Classic Rebirth" mod. I don't know if this would help.

In any case, I hope someone can respond.

Thanks in advance,

Joe.

EDIT: Added duration of stutters.

I don't have a solution but you should not delete anything. All files exept the exe and the wrapper are unchanged since the original release.

I highly doubt, that your PC is not powerfull enough. Even my old PII266 could run the games 25 years ago without stuttering.

The only thing you can also try is using another ddraw wrapper like dgvoodoo oder ddrawcompat.
