I'm running into a weird issue with RE3 where with integer scaling mode enabled, the game just displays in a small 4:3 window in the center of the screen. I've tried setting the resolution manually and switching between windowed and full-screen modes, but neither fixes it. I didn't have this problem with any of the other RE releases. Glitch that slipped through?

As far as I know, the original version put out a ~640x480 image and it looks like that's roughly how large the image I do get in the center of the screen is. Obviously, scaling this game up using the stretch method looks pretty hideous, so can't play the game that way.
It looks like you can make the game image bigger by going into the in-game settings (by hitting F1) and selecting a higher resolution. Problem is, the highest it will go is 1600x1200, so you're still playing in a relatively small window. Having two sets of resolution settings between that and the DirectX settings isn't particularly good porting work... particularly when neither of them get you the desired outcome.

So yeah, looks like I'm punting my playthrough of this for the foreseeable future.
Not ideal, but for the time being you could try the following to get it to run only with just black bars on the left and right:

- in the bio3.ini (located in the install directory), edit the Width value to 1600 and Height to 1200, save
- in the DirectX wrapper set:
- Display mode to 1600 x 1200 (and whatever framerate you want)
- Presentation to Fullscreen
- Aspect ratio correction to Enabled (Default)
- Scaling method to Integer scaling
- Vertical synch to Set by application (Default)
- Anisotropic filtering to Enabled (16x in my case)
- AA to Enabled (8x in my case)
- save

The game should now stretch vertically to touch the upper and bottom edge of the screen for the proper 4:3 ratio.

If you have thin horizontal and vertical lines appear on screen, try another antialiasing setting or turn it off completely.

Yeah, I didn't go digging for an ini file, but I'm curious if toying with that might help.

FWIW, I didn't have any issues with the horizontal and vertical lines appearing - I only ran into that issues when I experimented with the default image stretch scaling, as opposed to integer scaling.

Î just had them appear after alt-tabbing out and back into the game, so you might want to avoid doing that as well.
It looked off when I first installed it, the game by default I think (internally) runs at 1024x768 - bad integer scale for my 1440p monitor. Using the in-game F1 options I changed the resolution to 640x480, in the Gog video settings changed to desktop resolution, full screen and integer scale - now it looks just like RE1 and RE2 - razor sharp and clean.
Huh, interesting. I'll go ahead and try that.

I'm curious what the backgrounds are intended to render at in the PC version of the game, but either way... if this works, that's fantastic.

640x480, but some are in 320x240 or bilinear filtered in the asset to fill 640x480.

Must be nice
