Just purchased the game and did a few test launches. Any time I launch the game with a PS5/PS4 controller, the audio for the game completely is muted.

Any solutions or recommendations?

My only guess it that on Windows when you connect a PS5 controller for some reason it switches your default audio device to itself so both the speaker and the microphone are changed to the PS5 controller. I have not had this happen with a PS4 controller, all you have to do is go to your audio settngs and make your speakers/headphones the default audio playback device again.

DualShock 4 and DualSense count as audio devices, since they are technically capable of producing sound either via jack or speaker. You can disable their audio device bit entirely from Windows: go to audio devices, select wireless controller, and flag it as disabled for good, so it won't override your defaults every time the controller is plugged in.

I disabled Sony controller speaker in system settings before due to this issue with some games. I think some games use it specifically for some sounds if enabled, but not worth the headache of messing with system settings all the time imo.
