Folks keep saying they're disappointed because GOG is using the original versions of the games rather than enhanced re-releases, upgraded ports, and even modded versions of the game.
Meanwhile, I was thrilled by the announcement that these classics were being released on PC at all, as I had honestly abandoned all hope that Capcom would ever release them on PC ever again, and frankly cannot comprehend why so many folks are disappointed that this isn't "Resident Evil: Director's Cut Deadly Silence REbirth Turbo HD REmastered Zoomer Enhanced Edition" when all three games already have remakes with modern visuals and additional content.
I feel like everyone has missed the point of what these releases are intended to be and what GOG is trying to accomplish with them. Furthermore, somehow I doubt that all the folks calling for enhanced versions of the game with all sorts of enhancements wouldn't be very pleased if such a game were released with a higher pricetag.
Last but not least, the SourceNext and Mediakite versions are publicly available on the Internet Archive, (AKA Wayback Machine) so if folks really want to play Resident Evil Classic REbirth, they can just download all the necessary components and configure it themselves.
Personally, I'm thrilled that these games are being rereleased, I've already purchased the complete bundle, and will be more than satisfied with the enhancements GOG made to the game to begin with. They may not have been completely remodeled, retextured, and heavily modified to include anachronistic features and elements introduced later in the series, but it's going to look and run a heck of a lot better than the original PS1 releases.
