So I'm able to boot up the game without much issue, although I have the game set to windowed mode and it's displaying in full screen, but the real issue is that I have absolutely no idea how to exit the game.

I don't have this version of the game but in the OG PC version, you pressed one of the F keys. Try pressing them all. Maybe F7?

While playing the game F9 will prompt you to exit back to the main menu, F9 again will put you pack into Windows

Sure, i can press leftstick for options, but i can't exit the game, or go back to the main menu :(

I don't believe you can close the game with the controller. I have only been able to do so with my keyboard. I haven't been able to find any combination on my controller yet that closes it out.

I can crash the game by pressing the xbox button if that counts.

I'm using an 8bitdo controller - the game doesn't crash(sadly?), if im using the "home" button.
