RawSteelUT: You know? I wonder why the whole Jill Easy thing was added to the PC version to begin with. I don't remember people complaining about the difficulty level for Jill back then, and giving her the two extra item slots seemed like a huge buff in and of itself.
Jill was easy mode on the original PSX version too. She has more ammo, she has her handgun at the start, she has more slots for stuff. The lockpick lets you open locked drawers to get more stuff while with chris you need to waste a slot with a small key.
Barry gives you ammo quite often, you can get the shotgun early since barry will open the door and rescue you if you don't use the broken shotgun.

That's the vanilla version. Apparently the first playthrough with Jill on the PC version, enemies are way weaker and you don't need ink ribbons. Like you say, Jill already had some differences that made moving about a bit more easy than Chris, thus the question. Nerfing the enemies and the save system seems overikill.

Homekill: Right it's not just the lack of ink ribbons. On your first run all the enemies are weaker like zombies will die in around 3 or 4 handgun shots instead of 6 to 7
Really? They feel like they melt to the ground all the same to me. I'll have to try this.

I'll confirm in a while I have a completed save file, seems kinda pointless though I already have a RPG after one playthrough lol.

AydanWatkins: It is possible, but you need to modify a file in the DATA folder. Open up BIOCARD.DAT in a hex editor, edit the byte with the new value shown in the attachment and just hit save. That way every time you start a new game it will be at the correct western difficulty that we had on the original PlayStation release, where Jill has to use Ink Ribbons and enemies take a few more bullets / do more damage etc.

I've attached an image showing the exact value and what to change it to. Enjoy a much better and authentic experience!

I've been modding RE1 for so long that it's like a second home to me.
Awesome! Thanks!
Okay just played through, zombies seem to take whatever they feel like. anywhere from 3 to 7 usually.

your health gets decimated more easily so stock up on health more frequently, if you are familiar with the game you can just keep your health items in an item box most of the time.

So yeah confirmed it now. :)

Edit: Try not to pick up much at the start if your trying to do it fast, you literally start with the ingram and rpg in your inventory immediately.

If anyone needs a save file of the new game plus for Jill (with bonus items removed) - you can download it from here:
