Strange. I've got 2560x1080 on a wine prefix.
Try DGVoodoo and get back with the results.

Updated tutorial on how to make the game run in widescreen using the D3D mode.
01. Download and install the game using the latest GOG offline installer
02. Download the new FOV Fix and extract both files into the game folder
03. Launch Requiem Avenging Angel - FOV Fixer v1.1.exe and enter your resolution (for me it was 2560 x 1440)
04. Install dgVoodoo and make sure the following files are in the game folder:
dgVoodooCpl.exe , dgVoodoo.conf , D3D8.dll , D3DImm.dll , DDraw.dll
05. Open dgVoodoo and in the DirectX tab change the resolution to the one you want to use (for me it was 2560 x 1440) and remove the dgVoodoo watermark
OPTIONAL: Change Texturing > Filtering to "Force point sampled" if you want the game to look more pixelated
06. If dgVoodoo settings are ignored by the game, download and execute this:
https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/2936-requiem-avenging-angel-fov-fix/?tab=comments#comment-5795
07. OPTIONAL: Open Nvida Control panel and add a custom resolution of 864 x 486 (1:1 HUD size)
08. Launch the game and change the resolution in the Display options to a lower one or to the custom one created in step 7. This does have an effect on the HUD size in-game.
09. Have fun deleting enemies with your "To salt" ability.
IMPORTANT: I recommend always using both quicksave and normal saving at the same time as there is a minor chance that after dying and auto-reloading your quicksave gets corrupted. Loading a normal save when this happens and then quicksaving again will fix it.
