I'm using the retail disc copy of the game since I never owned it on GOG, but I can't think of a better place to ask - on Windows 7, when I click the game .exe I get a similar problem that's been described before on here; a Republic.exe will appear in the task manager but then disappear and the game doesn't begin running. I've tried running as administrator, running in compatibility mode for XP, and both at the same time, but still having no luck. Any ideas?
Really hope GOG gets this game back up at some point!

Any idea on how to resolve this issue? Both for old retail discs and for the GOG digital release.
