Well, after having played my share of Populous i thought, well, i could play this. But i am NOT ABLE to win even the second map. What the hell? Is there a difficulty slider for slowpokes like me? What am i doing wrong? :)

Edit: Nevermind, i figured it out. Unlike Populous you have to "kindle" your people way more aggressively and faster. They take wayyyy to long to start walking around on their own.

Took me a while too. I have to say the kindling mechanic is a little annoying. I'd prefer if they just came out at a decent rate on their own.
