I can't get any of the Redneck Rampage Games to run (in Vista). DosBox launches and it starts to load files, but then the screen goes black. DosBox gives the error "file ./redneck.gnp exists and failed to open in write mode. Please Remove write-protection." I can't seem to find any reason why or how the files are read only, and can't seem to find a solution in the forums, so I'm out of ideas. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You have to right click and run as Administrator. I was having the same problem.
Thanks. I tried that with the Redneck .exe files, but it didn't occur to me to do it under DosBox.

This is Vista's (and Win7's and probably will be in Win8 too) protection. Part of the whole UAC and DEP stuff. You've installed the game into the default location, Program Files. Under Vista and above this is a protected folder which means that the OS doesn't like the files inside the folder to be edited after the program installation is complete.

As already said, running as administrator solves this, but I'd still recommend installing outside of Program Files, to some unprotected folder like C:\Games\. It will help prevent a number of issues with older games. New ones tend to be okay, though, as they are written for the newer OSes.
