When I go into setup to change the keyboard controls vista says it stops working. I also run the setup in administrator. I want to run setup without going too deep into the game files and config and manually changing it.

I have a similar problem. The control setup works for me, but it never takes effect.
All the changes I make are for nought, since they just don't take effect once I launch the game. I saved the changes, but they still do not affect game.

Are you making sure you save and launch the settings after setting them rather then just escaping out of the settings program?
Also make sure you run setup.exe under windows xp compatibility and administrator access even if it runs without them.
Lastly if neither of these things work you could try manually changing the settings using the REDNECK.CFG, make sure you save that after you have changed them.
