How do I fix this? There's no hud or gun

That's one I've never heard before.
My first suggestion is, see if the screen size somehow got changed. While in-game, press - (minus) or + (plus) key a few times. Since that controls the HUD from appearing/reappearing/changing its size.
My only other suggestion is to use the dgvoodoo wrapper:
Download the dgvoodoo2 zip at dege.freeweb.hu ....open the zip file, goto MS folder, goto the x86 folder, copy the DLL files (EXCEPT for d3d9.dll) and paste them into the same folder as the Redline exe.
