I had a lot of trouble getting this game running on my Alienware M17x laptop so I'll post the configuration I used in case it helps anyone else. I'm not sure if it will be the same on other optimus based laptops. The system is Windows 7 64-bit, DirectX 11, GTX 675M with driver version 335.23.
In nVidea Control Panel select
- Integrated Intel CPU
In program compatibility settings:
- Compatibility Mode = Windows 95
- Run in 256 Colours
- Run in 640x480 Screen Resolution
- Disable display scaling on high DPI settings
- Run this program as administrator
In program folder:
- Delete redline.cfg (it will create a fresh one)
- Leave all graphical settings at default
This does mean the game will only be running at 640x480 but any deviation from the above resulted in a CTD on this system (and I tried a lot of combinations!). I've played for about 1 hour, created saves, quit the game and reloaded from where I left off without problems so far.
It's strange that it was so picky because the demo made at the time of the games release works fine on this machine without any fiddling.
