Thought I'd share this here to give it a bit more visibility and to hopefully encourage a few folks who browse these forums to give the exciting world of Red Faction level creation a try! :) Many people don't realise just how powerful of a development platform Red Faction is - hopefully this guide can help change that.
https://www.redfactionwiki.com/wiki/The_Beginner%27s_Guide_to_Red_Faction_Mapping
This is The Beginner's Guide to Red Faction Mapping - a VERY simple guide that takes you from never having opened level editing software before, straight through the entire process of making a fully playable (albeit basic) custom single player Red Faction level.
The only thing this guide assumes is that you've played Red Faction at least a few times and have a basic understanding of how to use software on a computer - it guides you through absolutely everything else.
I hope you find this guide useful! If you have any further questions on Red Faction level design (or Red Faction in general), or just want to chat with other designers and show off your creations, I'd encourage you to drop by the FactionFiles community Discord. We're an approachable and welcoming community of players, designers, and fans, and we'd be more than happy to help you as much as possible with learning the editor.
You can join by clicking here: https://discord.gg/factionfiles
Happy mapping!
PS. If you're looking for additional/more advanced level editing/modding tutorials and documentation, be sure to check out the RF1 Editing Main page on the community wiki: https://www.redfactionwiki.com/wiki/RF1_Editing_Main_Page
