Is there any advantage to keeping the $$$ from Orzu and robbing his deliverer of the cargo? I've done it both ways but didn't pay attention. I didn't notice any real difference but probably missed something.

Probably a reputation thing. The messages are easy to miss if you aren't looking close enough when it comes to rep.
