So what do you do after you'e done all the story missions. I have been going around and doing some missions here and there, but the game is getting pretty easy/boring now. (Net worth of 150+ Millions).

What end game ship did you decide to go with ? - Minotaur for me
Are you hunting rare MK6 weapon drops ? (Managed an atimatter drive. Greel deflector, 3 Murath badger's etc.)

Strangely the pirate lords seem to have all gone into hiding.. :D

After I finished the Story, I worked up to get a fully MK6 Blackgate. FYI, if anyone is trying to do this, it costs about 100 million credits, give or take (depending on what weapons and subsystems).

I wasn't really a fan of the Blackgate. It was powerful, and laid waste to everything, but it handled like a pig. I am currently using a Sorcerer, and finding it much more enjoyable. I loaded it with 3 Mining Lasers along the spine, 9 Pulse Cannons, and a Neutron Beam broadside. For subsystems, I use: Turret Optimizer, Turret Extender, Broadside Charger, Maneuvering Booster, and EMP Ablation. I have a HS Missile rack for my Secondary, but I forget to use it most of the time. Aegis shield, Null-grav Booster, and basic versions of everything else.

All told, that load out makes the Sorcerer feel like a butch Barracuda (with only a little leap of imagination :P).

As for what I have been doing? Trying to hunt down Pirate Lords for some unique drop items (like Viridian Lasers). I am finding it hard to find them, just like you, however. Oh well, sometimes it is fun just to go blow stuff up.

I puttered around doing missions and invasions until I got bored again and stopped playing.

The ship I use is the Merc Destroyer.
With that nice blue colouring and fast speed/turn rate, I roast anything in the way... even dreadnoughts go down pretty quick.

If you mean the destroyer that is available at the Merc guild, that's the Minotaur. :)

Well heck, 4 years later, I'm about to do the same thing. Just got around to finishing out the campaign on this game for the first time, and was rocking an Arcturus (Mk 6 defenses- Mk 5/6 weapons) to do so.

Just got enough to trade in for a Sorceror. Wondering if I shouldn't save up a bit more to kit out more of the ship when I get it.

Anyway, goal is to see what it takes to fill out a Blackgate with Viridian Mk 6.

I completed the story and currently looking for MK6 Veridian Lasers. Does anyone know if they are available? I do not see any high risk areas now. The highest rating is only a Mild. Like others, the missions have become pretty simple and I am loosing interest. However, I would like to get everything upgraded to MK6 level. I am looking for an MK6 Engine. Does anyone know where I will find it?


Update: I have upgraded everything to MK6, except for two MK5 Viridian lasers. I have one MK6 and I upgraded one MK4 to a MK5 and I picked up another MK5 in battle.

I am like you. After the game, I tried every ship and ended up with the Minotour. I chose it because The bounties and missions were all rated too low when I used the Blackgate. All my equipment is MK6. I have at least one of every other MK6 items in my surplus, just in case I want to try another ship. I am also using captured lasers, again they are MK6. I have one Viridian Mk 6 and two Viridian Mk 5. I keep looking to pick up more Viridian MK6. If I find them, I will replace my MK5. That will be it, as far as I know.

Now I am just running around looking for warloards to kill and busting blockades to get the badges of accomplishment. The Minotour is not as devastating as the Blckgate; but, I still destroy everything with it. Tlhe Blackgate was too slow to keep me interested. I would just wade in and take on all comers with it. LOL It was cool at first; but, you know after awhile, it does get old.

So I am looking for a new game. This time I want to find a multi-player game. Then after I learn, I can team up with others. That should make a big difference. It should be less boring. Anyone else want to try that, give me a recommendation and I will be happy to join in. As for the Pirate lords. They are hard to find and they are just as hard to catch. They run all over the place to get away and other ships keep heading me off when I get close. I spend a lot of time jumping and looking for other victims and blockades to bust up.

Try running the game again. Hardcore (one death>restart), no-purchase of anything that can be salvaged or captured (purchase OK on 1st Scatter, Jump Drive, Cargo Extenders, Warp Drives - because, AFAICT these never drop ... and trying to get started without that initial Beta mount filled is just too slow and suicidal.) Oh, and you have to run at least one mission in every system, before you finish the storyline. Buying ship class upgrades is OK, but only after you have enough surplus turret systems to fill all the mount points. And you must finish the game in nothing bigger than a Sturville (which is plenty if you trick it out right).

For those who don't know, to make the above a little easier, scatter guns (and a few other turret gun systems) work just fine for mining, just take a little longer to chew up the berg or asteroid. And you won't get full yield of a multi-resource asteroid even with a Fault Scanner until you scavenge a Mining Laser.
