Is it possible to use one roll for more characters in ROA1? Or do I have to roll attributes every time? I've read somewhere it's possible, but it doesn't say how.

Also, if I'm going for the best party (Fighter, Dwarf, Mage, Druid, Sylvan Elf and Thorwalian), in what area of magic should my spellcasters specialize? Some recommend Combat for the Mage while others Transform.

I'm planning to play the other two games as well, so keeping that in mind, are there any negative attributes that I should have low? So far I know I only should have Acrophobia<4 in ROA1. Are there any others that need to be low or lowered in the future?

NEVER go Thorvalian. He has to have high superstition, which has direct negative impact on magic resistance - and this answers your second question. Also necrophobia can be a nuisance sometimes.
The only negative attribute that really has a noteable impact is superstition.

I agree that a Thorwalian is not one of the best classes. But it is definitely better than the druid. Sure... A dwarf or fighter is better than a Thorwalian, but a mage just plays in a different league than the druid.

As for the mage specialization: I only played the german versions of RoA so the terms might be incorrect, but I usually chose either movement (to get the teleport spell early on. It is most convinient in RoA1...) or domination because it is much more effective to scare enemys away than to turn them into charcoal...
Thorwalians are like dwarves with 10 less hitpoints and -4 base magic resistance which are forced to start with high superstition which increases the magic resistance penalty even further.
But since not many opponents use magic and negative attributes can be reduced at level ups you can bear having one instead of a second dwarf if you don't want two characters of the same kind, armor class is most important and thorwalian is one of the 3 classes which can wear the heaviest armor.

Druids are ok too, mages get far more points at level up but druids can wear some armor and therefore aren't hurt that easily. No need for a second mage if you already have one.

In order to use a roll for several characters in RoA1 change classes, this way you can also enforce getting the deity you want.
Thanks for the answers. I know that the Thorwalian has +4 to magic resistance, but I'd like different characters and I'm not sure if a Jester would be a better pick in the aforementioned setup, as I don't think they're as good fighters, right? (and my Fighter will be in the front in dungeons, thus opening locks and having no need for the Jester to do it)

Domination has the same name in the English version, and maybe Transform is Movement? I'll have to check it next time I boot up the game. What about the one which gives you bonuses, like +2 to stats, is that one good for picking as your main?

By the way, if I remember correctly, don't you get kicked out of the created character when you save it? So when I switch the class, and allocate all points, what do I do so that I can continue on creating another one with the same roll?

The Thorwalian is not a bad class. It is a fully capable tank. But if you compare the tanks the dwarf is just better. It is similar to the ranger. He is not bad but the elf is just better. It will not be a problem though. I also prefer a variety in classes. And at the moment I play the game with the 6 unpopular classes (Thowalian, rogue, jester, ranger, witch and druid) and the game is not a lot harder. Although the witch is really useless in RoA1 because some of her spells do not work. The only one I miss is the mage because he is just the convinient swiss army knife. If I want to have the most effective team I play with 3 tanks, 2 elves and 1 mage.

Transform does not sound like the one I meant. I meant the catergory with the teleport, the speed and the unlock spell. Although I only chose it for teleport. The speed spell is usefull in hard combats though because the buffed character can attack twice...
I do not use the bonus spells. The benefits are quite small and I think that astral points are not abundant enough for such small effects.

I think you are right about the creation being done after saving the character. As far as I know you cant use one set of attributes twice. But I could be wrong on that...
In the German version of RoA1 you could use a roll for building several characters but not in RoA2, I don't if the English version is different.
Thorwalian is better than jester but many party combinations work.
I tried it again yesterday. You are right. I could choose a different class after saving one character and make another one with the same set of attributes that way. But I also have the german version.

Could you tell me how do you do it? I think I found out but I forgot since then. I think it was possible to save the character but not exit the screen, right? :D
After saving the character the game did not even try to exit the screen. I saved the character, then chose a different class (in this case a different kind of elf), changed the name and raised skills and spells again. Then I saved the new character. The only important thing is to change the name because the game saves the characters under their names.
The trick still works in the english version I got from GOG. Can just change gender, type, name and what have you as many times as you want.
