I've been dabbling in the game with premades to get familiar with the mechanics and I can't wait to start with my own party. I'm just about ready to roll them up, but I have a question about Rogues.

I am debating a Rogue as my 6th character. However, I'm curious about their role in the RoA games. I have read previous posts about their roles in pick-pocketing and cheating, but what I'm most curious about is if they also pick locks and disarm traps. Are their secret areas, doors, treasure chests, etc. that require a Rogue?

If Rogues do help get to chests and secret areas, then I definitely want one. If not, I'll want to use that 6th character slot for something else.

Thanks.
Aside from the "thieving" skills, Rogues start with good scores in Streetwise (for when you are in a city), picking locks sensing danger and finding secret doors.
That said, you don't necessarily need to have one, you can assign those duties to other characters. Dwarves also have good Danger Sense and Perception and start with about the same lock picking ability as Rogues, so they can be good substitutes. For street smarts, just give the streetwise skill to a character with decent wisdom and intuition or whomever is going to be the leader while in towns.

Thanks for the reply. The town skills, picking locks, sensing danger, and finding secret doors sounds good enough to fill my last slot with a Rogue.

Thanks Urthgris!
