I used to be an avid ROA1/2 player as young kid. Glad to see the series available here. I'm looking to start the 3rd game, but am having problems with character creation.

Even with easily beating the stat category requirements needed in the manual, I'm only offered different classes than I'm going for or none at all. What's going on? Can anyone offer an 'updated' lit here?

Maybe you confused minimum requirements with maximum requirements for the bad attributes. If the manual is wrong you should be able to find out the real requirements quite fast if you use the fast creation option.

Some (if not all) of the in-game manual (F1) are wrong. I spent a while earlier wondering why I couldn't make a Rogue after picking 12 CR, 12 DX and 11 AG, but then I read the manual rather than the F1 help thing and it said 13 CR, 12 DX and 11 AG.

I also kept making the mistake of thinking CR meant Charisma, but I don't think that'll be a problem for you since you've played the first 2 games. And yeah, the negative stats are important - some of them you have to be more than (like 7 AV for a Rogue), others you have to be less than. (I realise this is a very late reply, but it's more for anyone else who finds this thread after having the same problem).
