I'm not a big fan of music in RPGs so I usually turn it off. I'm just starting RoA and would like to turn the music off and have it stay off. Does anyone know a way to do this? I know it's not hard to turn it off each time I play just wondered if there was an easier way. I want to keep sound effects on. Any ideas appreciated!
I'm not sure if there is an easier way, but you can disable the music in the sound setup.
- open dosboxrealms1.conf in notepad or a similar editor
- go to the bottom and insert "sound" in the line before "bladem"
- start ROA1
-> The sound setup is started
- choose "No sound", confirm by pressing return
- choose Soundblaster Pro as the FX device, confirm
Now you should have sound effects, but no music. Delete "sound" from the dosboxrealms1.conf, to prevent the sound setup from showing up every time you start ROA
If you try the sound setup, you might try changing to Roland(something) as the music device.
It turned my music into an orchestral mess of noise with notes overlapping one another, but if it had worked it was obvious the actual quality of the music was much improved. Worth a try.
