hello,

Well, for quite a long time now I am thinking about buying this series of games, because they look interesting to me... but one big thing i hated about games like drakensang was, that i wasn´t able to go back to older places or level up against random encounters because I dont want to solve a certain quest.

Now, my question is, is RoA the kind of game where you can still travel around after the end, fighting random encounters and enjoy adventures?
Yes, RoA 1 and 2 are prime examples of proper open world games.

I think I could beat each game in an hour by doing the bare necessities. But everytime I replay them, I do it properly and look around everywhere easily getting 10+ hours of fun out of it. In both these games the "non needed content" is about 80%.

And you can revisit just about everyplace. Once the game is over, however, you need to move on to the next. But you can stall "that last dungeon" pretty much indefinitely (The time limit in RoA 1 can't be reached unless you force it by sleeping for years(!).

RoA 3 is less open world and more constricted, but when you play it for the first time, you don't really notice it.
