I made a party, turned off the music audio, then saved.

now the game ctd's trying to load any game or "start"

Check the names of characters in your party. The name of a character I had recently created glitched out and exceeded the maximum number of character, crashing the game whenever I tried to use her.

i cant even get to the "lobby" of the temple to do new characters

Since you haven't made any progress, it won't hurt to reinstall the game, but this time try leaving the sound options as it is.
