I've followed the Realms of Arkania series for a while. I originally started with Star Trail because it seemed superior to BoD in all respects, although after a while I decided to put it down and play through the entire series in order to maximize enjoyment - especially since revisiting the clunkier BoD later on would probably make it harder to get into.

One thing that annoys me about BoD are the PC speaker-esque bleeps whenever a message box appears. It's especially grating when navigating multiple menus, such as when using talents or magic. The game's relatively lacking in sound effects as it is so for the moment I'm content to just play with music only, but I do miss the sound effects in combat and dungeons now and then. I suppose there's not much else I can do, since the message box sounds seem to be indepdendent of the sound card. But if anybody knows of a way to be rid of them without disabling sound altogether, I'd love to hear about it.
