I'll say first off that I am enjoying Blade of Destiny immensely. It's a tough game but I am addicted. My party is level 4 / 5 right now and I am making good progress. The one thing that I cannot seem to figure out, though, is how the Demonology school works.
My magician is level 4, has close to 60 AP, and I chose to have him specialize in Demonolgy from the start. For the life of me I cannot get him to successfully summon anything (aside from the Skeltarius spell which is used on a corpse in combat). Every single time I have tried casting Blood and Fury or Heptagon, the spell fails.
Here is what I know so far:
-The summoning spells cannot be used in combat, so when are they used? Do I have to try summoning a demon in camp in preparation for the next battle?
-I picked up an NPC for a period of a time. During this time, I thought that maybe the spell failures were attributed to there not being an open slot in the party. Oh well, the spells still fail when the NPC leaves.
-I thought that I was possibly missing some kind of reagent or spell focus, so I purchased some items (crystal ball, mirror) but they don't seem to do anything.
Can anyone out there shed some light on this? It's a great adventure, but I would like for my Demonolgist to actually summon some things instead of hanging in the background all the time casting fulminictus!
Edit: I did read that the summoning spells rely on CH and CR checks. I tried boosting these stats magically and with potions but still no positive results.
Edit II: Just won BOD and started ST. Summoning seems to be combat-oriented in Star Trail. Not sure why they change but I guess I'm good to go now!
