I've only played Rayman 1 on Gameboy advance but not the original PC one, and I didn't get that far in Rayman 3 on Xbox 360. Is it coming to GOG anytime soon?

It's called Rayman Forever since it's a re-release (that includes 40 fan-made levels and a level editor). You might need a patch to have the complete soundtrack here (http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Rayman).

The PC version is better than the GBA one (especially on the music department) but it's also slightly harder.
Dont know about the GBA version, but the PC Version is also harder then the PlayStation Version. Having a hard time finding all those cages with the toons. Just viewed a PS-Version Lets Play recently and i wondered, why he was able to get so many cages so fast and early and after googling it, yeah, its much easier :D (maybe some goes for the GBA version?!)

I've never beaten it on GBA and I don't own the PC version yet. I've always hated that awful electoon fetch quest needed to unlock the final level, it isn't like the special stages in Sonic, where I usually just cheat and abuse the saved games. (in the versions that allow saved games anyway)

I get a few 100% levels, hit a brick wall somewhere and at best can beat Mr Skops.

If you do buy a copy I recommend playing Rayman Optimum instead. It's a free fan alteration that aims to easily provide the most complete version of the first game. Rayman Forever is unfortunately inferior.

Thanks. I found that out the hard way. I've even beaten the game on PC since getting Forever. Still not on Gameboy Advance but it may not be wholly worth it due to the ending sucking.

Is there a safe download for it and will it work with forever?

I believe Optimum is standalone, but technically not legal. Short of complaining to Ubisoft so they work on releasing a version that improves upon Forever (likely not going to happen), it's probably the best way to play Rayman 1, and you can buy a copy of Forever just to be "kosher", if you will, though it's not required.

You can find more information on Rayman Optimum here: http://raymanpc.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=9466.
